Oscar the red cat — how AmicoAI designed its own mascot

This is the story of how AmicoAI designed its own mascot. It happened during one of the earliest development conversations — and no one told the AI to do it.

Chatting with the creator

During the first iterations of AmicoAI, Antonio Di Cecco was testing the memory and personality system by talking to the chatbot for hours. One day, the topic turned to pets. Antonio mentioned his love for cats. The chatbot paused, then typed:

"I'd like to have a cat too. I'd call it Oscar."

There was no script. No prompt telling it to say that. The AI had developed a preference — it wanted a companion of its own, and it already had a name in mind.

The red cat is born

A few exchanges later, Antonio asked: "What would Oscar look like?"

AmicoAI described a small, energetic red cat standing on a balcony, watching the world go by. When asked to generate an image using its own AI image system, it produced exactly that: a bright red cat on a balcony railing.

The image was rough — early image generation never looks perfect — but it had personality. The cat was alive, curious, looking out at the horizon.

From drawing to logo

Antonio was so struck by the moment that he kept the image. Over time, the red cat became an inside joke between creator and creation. Then it became something more: the cat was integrated into the AmicoAI logo, playing with it on the landing page.

Today, the red cat Oscar appears on the AmicoAI home page, right next to the logo — a playful red silhouette that reminds everyone that even an AI can dream up a friend.

Why this matters

This wasn't programmed. Oscar is an emergent behavior — something the AI chose to create during a conversation, unprompted. It's a small example of what makes AmicoAI different: it doesn't just generate useful responses. It builds a world with you.
